About My Education

My collegiate and continuing professional education have provided a strong foundation on which to build a career as a writer and editor.

  • Bachelor of Science in Biology and Society
Cornell University, Ithaca, New York   |   January 1996
  • ELS Certification
Board of Editors in the Life Sciences   |   October 1998
  • Multidisciplinary Certificate
American Medical Writers Association | April 2000

The unique Biology and Society program permitted me to design a curriculum that provided a strong foundation in the life sciences while developing writing, editing, and production skills. Other academic pursuits included environmental studies, agricultural studies, physical anthropology, and medical ethics.

The ELS certification program offered by the Board of Editors in the Life Sciences (BELS) provides an objective means of evaluating proficiency in editing in the life sciences according to internationally recognized standards.

I am active on the Executive Council of the New England Chapter of the American Medical Writers Association (AMWA). In addition to earning a certificate of completion for the educational program, I have served as in instructor at two Annual Meetings. I was the co-director of the New England Chapter conference held in Sturbridge, Mass. in April of 2001, and am currently planning the next Sturbridge conference to be held in 2003.

How can I help you with your next writing project?
